It's a jungle out there!

A few days ago, I needed some help from a friend with setting up a project that we're working on. I'm on a static IP, so I installed a VNC server on my machine, opened up the port on the router, and was instantly ready to go. After we were done, I just left the port open. I configured the server to ask me before any connection is accepted anyway. The last three days, I've been receiving random requests to view my desktop from IPs in Korea & France. SMTP spamming is well known, but VNC spamming is kinda new to me! I mean, how do these guys work? At least in the case of mail spamming the operation can be totally automated, bots are still not that clever to be able to control a desktop using a mouse + keyboard interface.

Morale of the story: It's a jungle out there! And quoting from Beneath a Steel Sky, "Be diligent..."
